Claire Ashby, CIA, QIAL, FCA

Claire founded Ashby Associates in 2007 to provide bespoke internal audit and consultancy services to the arts and culture sector.  She undertakes the majority of Ashby Associates work although uses other senior consultants and specialists from time to time.

Claire is a chartered Internal Auditor and chartered accountant (ICAEW) with over 20 years internal and external audit experience. Claire has implemented risk based internal audit arrangements in many of the UK’s leading performing arts organisations. Claire is also an independent member of the Audit and Performance Committee for Arts Council England.

Claire’s career history includes extensive experience of delivering internal audit in a number of sectors as she has held senior level audit positions in media, insurance and charity organisations. Her previous posts include Head of Operational Audit at the BBC and a senior audit manager at Aviva.

Claire also undertakes quality reviews of internal audit functions for the Institute of Internal Auditors advising Audit Committees on fit for purpose assurance services. Her experience includes leading reviews of internal audit functions at PwC, the Government Internal Audit Agency and Department of Culture Media and Sport.

Chris Baker, CMIIA

Chris is a Chartered Internal Auditor and a Chartered Public Financial Accountant. Chris has over 30 years’ experience in internal audit at a senior level across a diverse range of sectors, including local government, education, housing and an employee owned partnership that became a publically listed limited company. He was previously the Chartered Institute of Internal Auditor’s technical manager
leading the UK profession in the setting of technical auditing standards and good practice. He is also an expert panel member of the Institute’s quality review team.

Jot Burgan

Jot has over 20 years IT audit experience, holds the CIIA’s computer audit qualification and is a member of ISACA (Information Systems Audit and Control Association). He has considerable experience of providing IT assurance and advisory services across the public and private sectors and has led engagements in IT audit, Information Security, PCI Compliance, Business Continuity and
Disaster Recovery, Regulatory Compliance, IT Risk Management and BS ISO/IEC 27001 – Code of Practice for Information Security Management. Jot’s experience in the arts and cultural sector includes undertaking IT audit reviews for the Royal Shakespeare Company, National Theatre, Southbank Centre and Birmingham Museums Trust.
